Simple Kaolin Clay Face Mask
White kaolin clay has a soft, fine texture that works well in simple wash-off masks. This recipe is intentionally prepared as a single-use batch, which avoids encouraging readers to store an unpreserved water-based mixture.
Single-use formula
| Ingredient | Amount |
|---|---|
| White kaolin clay | 1 tablespoon |
| Distilled water | 1–2 teaspoons |
| Vegetable glycerin | 1/2 teaspoon |
| Jojoba oil, optional | 2–3 drops |
Method
- Place the kaolin clay in a small, clean bowl.
- Mix in glycerin and one teaspoon of distilled water.
- Add more water a few drops at a time until the mask has a smooth, spreadable consistency.
- If desired, add two or three drops of jojoba oil and mix thoroughly.
- Apply a thin layer to clean skin, avoiding the eyes, lips, and broken or irritated areas.
- Leave on for approximately 5–8 minutes. Do not allow the mask to become painfully tight or fully cracked.
- Rinse gently with lukewarm water and pat dry.
Important storage note
Discard all leftovers. Once water is introduced, the mixture can support microbial growth. This formula is not designed for bottling, gifting, or sale without professional preservation and safety testing.
Customization ideas
- Replace part of the water with freshly prepared, cooled green tea and use immediately.
- For a thinner mask, add water gradually rather than adding more glycerin.
- Keep the formula fragrance-free to reduce unnecessary sensitization risk on facial skin.
Patch test first. Stop use if stinging, redness, or irritation occurs. Cosmetic clay masks are not treatments for medical skin conditions.
